The Franklin County Warming Shelter will be open for overnight stays, 7:00 pm – 8:00 am, beginning in December 2022* (*weather dependent), from January 1 – February 28 each evening, and in March 2023* (*weather dependent). In the months of December 2022 and March 2023, we will be open if the weather is forecast to be a low of 35 degrees or less. Check WDBJ 7 Weather for updates. All are welcome. There is no cost for any services provided through this ministry.
We are located within the Redwood Outreach Center located at Redwood United Methodist Church, 3001 Old Franklin Turnpike, Rocky Mount, VA 24151
The shelter opens for guests at 7:00 pm. Guests will sign-in and then be provided with a warm meal, bedding, and toiletries. Private showers are available. Doors close for the night at 8:00 pm.
Dinner is served from 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A breakfast of snacks and drinks are provided in the morning for guests before they leave.
Lights out is at 10:00 pm. Guests will be awakened at 7:00 am and provided a continental breakfast before they head out for the day. Anyone registered to stay the night will not be readmitted that night once they leave the facility. Shelter closes at 8:00 am.
