The Franklin County Warming Shelter is operated by community volunteers like YOU. Would you consider being a volunteer at least one night this winter? There are several ways to volunteer and support the FC Warming Shelter this winter season:
Ways to Volunteer at the Shelter
Note: From March 5-31, 2022, Volunteers will be needed sporadically as the shelter will be open depending on the weather. We hope to update the sign-up genius accordingly to only those dates we are open in March. Please stay tuned to see if we are open and sign up if you are able to help. Thank you so much!!
Food Service –
Volunteers prepare and serve dinner to guests who are staying the night. Dinner is served from 7:00 – 8:00 pm each evening.
A volunteer will register everyone who is in need of shelter for the night. Guests must sign in and complete intake documents. Intake is from 7:00-8:00 pm.
Overnight stay –
Volunteers ensure that guests have the items they need for the night and lock the facility for the evening. Volunteers sleep in designated areas so they are prepared if needed in the night. Overnight volunteers stay from 8:00 pm-8:00 am.
Ways to Volunteer at home
Laundry Services –
Laundering towels and linens used by guests who are staying at the shelter will provide fresh clean towels and linens for new guests when they arrive. (Note, linens for regular guests are washed weekly. Towels are washed daily.)
